NON DIRECT SYSTEM
The Non Direct System (NDS®), project is a technical solution of a highly efficient indirect cooling technology (i.e. the cold is distributed by a heat transfer medium) combined with a cascade of highly efficient technology and full utilization of waste heat with an increase in the temperature potential by means of a heat pump. The aim of the technology design was to address the issue of refrigerants (controlled substances and F-gases), increase operational safety, significantly increase the annual operating efficiency of the refrigeration machinery and fully recover the waste heat energy. The NDS® indirect cooling technology concept was developed in 2018 by the team of Kopecký Pavel (Cooling Technology Solution s.r.o.), Študlar Václav and Ondráček Tomáš (SINOP CB a.s.).
As part of the project design, the ideas of the NDS® concept have been gradually introduced into the cooling technology (in 2024, more than 30MW of the cooling capacity with NDS® technology was already in operation). All implementations are continuously monitored, electrical consumption and operating parameters are measured, and regular energy audits are carried out. These audits confirm that the technical concept of NDS® fulfils the predicted annual energy savings for the designed technologies. Typically, operational savings of 43–52% in electrical consumption of the cooling technology are achieved compared to the existing technologies). The new technical design also increases the operational safety of the refrigeration technology and the projects make full use of low potential waste heat.
In 2022, Cooling Technology Solution s.r.o. won the "Danfoss Synergy World Cup" award for the implementation of NDS® technology for the H3 and H4 freezer warehouse cooling in the HOPI s.r.o. distribution centre.
